In the Beginning

In the winter of 1986, a group of pastors and lay people from the churches of Lutz and Land O' Lakes identified a serious need to provide food and clothing for disadvantaged men, women and children in our local area.

Christian Social Services opened its doors in August of 1987, and serves families and individuals in Lutz, Land O' Lakes, Wesley Chapel, Odessa and Gowers Corners.

CSS Misison Statement

Christian Social Services is a specialized ministry of local churches which offers food, clothes, supportive services and Christian hospitality to people in the name of Jesus Christ, in central Pasco and north Hillsborough counties.

Serving Our Community

CRISIS INTERVENTION - CSS provides food, clothing, household necessities and financial assistance to clients in crisis situations.

SHARE HOST SITE - SHARE is a food co-op program that is open to everyone. The goal is to provide families with excellent food products and to promote volunteerism in the community.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - CSS is partnering with Habitat to eliminate poverty housing in Central Pasco County.

SHARE THE SEASON - With the support of individuals, local churches and businesses, CSS provides holiday food baskets and Christmas toys to hundreds of needy families in our community.

BACKPACKS FOR KIDS - CSS provides a new backpack and needed school supplies to their school aged clients.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER - CSS is the sponsor and coordinating agency for this annual function in our community.

Your purchases and your donations of items help further this ministry to the needy. Clean out your closets and attics - bring your garage sale overflow. Clean and usable items are accepted, and tax receipts are available.

CSS Needs your Food Donations

Most needed items:

Canned beans		Pasta
Canned fruit		Macaroni and cheese
Canned meat		Hamburger/tuna helpers
Canned potatoes		Ramon Noodles
Canned soups		Cereals
Canned tomato products		Peanut Butter

Food items may be dropped off at Christian Social Services or at First United Methodist Church of Land O Lakes. Cash donations are also appreciated. Checks may be made out to FUMC LOL (memo: CSS).
