Reverend Peter Cottrell – Senior Minister

Peter was born in San Diego, California where he spent a memorable two years. When his father landed a job in the space industry the family moved to Cocoa, Florida. Peter and his two brothers all grew up in Cocoa – Go Tigers!

Peter went to Lakeland to attend Florida Southern College (Go Mocs!) and graduated with a BA in Philosophy and Religion. He went on to graduate school at the Duke Divinity School at Duke University (Go Blue Devils!) where he received his Masters of Divinity.

The Reverend Peter Cottrell was appointed to First UMC Land O Lakes in July 2007. He and his wife Dina are delighted to be a part of the First church family.

• What's your favorite food? Mexican, Chinese or Italian

• What's the last book you read? Living the Resurrection by Peterson, A Long Obedience by Peterson, Radical Grace by Rohr, A Generous Orthodoxy by McLaren, Seven Practices of Effective Ministry by Stanley, Joiner and Jones; and some book on Ubuntu Linux.

• Who’s your favorite music artist? Crosby, Stills and Nash (and sometimes Young)

• What's your favorite song? Soldiers of Peace

• What hobbies do you enjoy? Gardening, Computers, Video

• What's your favorite TV show? CSI and all versions, NCIS, Numbers, Monk, Big Bang Theory and Burn Notice (I think I watch too much TV!)
