Christina Mitchell – Director of Student Ministries
Christina was born in Tampa, Florida and grew up in Land O’ Lakes. Her family has always been a part of a Christian community, and Christina accepted Christ while attending Vacation Bible School at the age of seven and has followed the Lord ever since. She attended Pine View Middle School and Land O’ Lakes High School. Her immediate family here in Land O’ Lakes includes her father and mother, Tim and Clara Craig, her sister Amanda Craig, and her grandmother Fran Craig.
She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2006. At USF, Christina earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology & Religious Studies and a minor in Leadership Studies. Her time at USF was spent working at the campus bookstore, as an Orientation Team Leader and as an intern at FUMC. She also met her husband, Dustin Mitchell, at USF. They were married December 29, 2006.
Christina has attended FUMC since 2002 and has been a Youth Ministry volunteer, intern and part-time staff member before becoming the Director of Student Ministries in 2006. She and her husband enjoy the outdoors: hiking, camping, going to the beach, biking, fishing, swimming, picnicking and taking their dog, Bandit, on walks. Christina loves to scrapbook meaningful past life events. She traveled to Europe with her mom and sister in 2006 and is still scrapping all the memories from those two weeks of backpacking.
Christina joined the staff of FUMC with a hope to continue all of the important ground work laid before her. She believes that God has called her to help students find a relationship with God that is their own and that they will take with them even after they graduate from High School. She also feels gifted in assisting Church members to find their spiritual gifts and serve in meaningful ways for the Lord. One of her most important reasons for being at FUMC is to connect with college and young adults. She has seen the lives of college students changed because of the authentic, challenging, and passionate students here at the church. For several years now, Christina has been a great blessing to the staff, students and families of FUMC.
